At What Tank Level Does Propane Depot Deliver At?
When is a Fill Dispatched?
Most people are accustomed to thinking that tank percentage is how to know when a fill is required, however that was the old way when the technology we have today wasn’t available. We will generally create a ticket in our system when a tank is between 20-35%, however that isn’t the only data we go by. During peak season or for high use users, we depend on more data to avoid runouts. With our custom proprietary software and the tank monitor, we know your daily burn rate and the gallons remaining in your tank, giving us the information to know what date a fill is actually required on and the date you will run out of gas.
We Will Never Let You Runout
Filling by tank percentage only, dramatically increases the chances of a runout. A tank currently at 40% with low daily usage can be months away from needing a delivery, however if you have high daily usage, that same size tank at 40% could only have two days before it is empty. With all the information we have being reported from your monitor and our software scanning multiple data points, we make sure you never run out of propane. If your usage changes, the required delivery date and runout date is updated based on the new information, and if action is required we are instantly alerted. We will dispatch a truck at any time or day when you’re on our Smart Fill service and require gas.
My Prior Provider Would Deliver at a Higher Percentage
Some companies will make deliveries when your tank is still very full. They maybe in your neighborhood already for another customer and since passing by anyway top off your tank to sell more gallons that day. Also, they will get an additional delivery fee out of it. If they deliver 3 extra times during the year to you than needed, that’s 3 extra fees they billed you for when a delivery wasn’t even necessary but was convenient for them being already on your block.
A Full Tank Doesn’t Show 100% on the Gauge
Propane tanks will never show 100% on the gauge. A full tank is when the gauge shows between 80-85%. The extra space in the tank is a cushion against the pressure that builds up in a tank when it’s hot. If your tank was 100% full and the temperature inside the tank rose (from the outdoor heat, for example), it becomes a dangerous situation.
